Col. Jesse Woodhull's Regt. --he and his son James carted links of the "great Chain " [used by Washington's forces to obstruct the Hudson River above West 
Point] from Sterling Furnace to New Windsor with ten yoke of oxen, 1779- m. 1, (8 Mar 1761) Ann Smith (6 Mar 1743-1790), daughter of Austin Smith (1728?-1817) 
and Mehitable Tuthill (the daughter in turn of James Tuthill [1692-1772] of Oysterponds, LI, and Rachel Browne [1692- ] -m. 2, (28 Nov 1791) Rebecca Knapp 
(9 Oct 1756-17 Jul 1826), daughter of Nathaniel Knapp and Sarah Sutton of Sugar Loaf- house and farm, said by Ruttenber and Clark to be at Rye Hill, one mile 
south of Monroe, valued at $800 on tax list of 20 Sept 1799- he bought 250 acres (all of Cheesecocks #4, one mile north of present day Harriman) for 700 
pounds on 9 Jan 1801 (witnessed by George [3-13] and James S. [3-11]) -held pew #8 in Monroe Pres Church (Seamanville) -left a will, 10 Nov 1806 (Liber D, p 
352) in which he bequeathed 1/3 of his lands to his wife Rebecca and the rest (save 60 acres which he left to his grandson Archibald Little) to his son Thomas 
(see 3-18) -second wife left a will, 10 Feb 1826 (Town of Goshen, Liber H, p 176) -she is buried in Sugar Loaf .1
