Rachel H. (Galloway) Carlson

HILLSBORO, Ind. - Rachel H. (Galloway) Carlson, 75, of 2603 E. Carlson Road, Hillsboro, died at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 30, 2003) at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.

Rachel was born in Alvin, Ill., on April 12, 1928. She was the daughter of Clarence E. and Ethel H. Wolfe Galloway. She was raise in Pence and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1946. She has resided in Hillsboro since 1949.

Rachel married Billy Gene Carlson on Aug. 17, 1946, in Brownsburg, Ind. Billy survives.

Rachel formerly had worked for 10 years at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville as a surgical assistant. She later worked for five years at the Hillsboro State Bank.

Mrs. Carlson was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church; Fern Chapter #194 Order of the Eastern Star; former member of the Pythian Sisters.

Surviving besides the husband are two sons, William Michael (wife-Cheryl) Carlson of Hillsboro and Thomas Patrick (wife-Mary Kay) Carlson of Greentown; five grandchildren, Brett (wife-Julie) Carlson, Lydia (husband-George) Christodoulou, Chad (wife-Twylla) Carlson, Meredith Carlson and Karen Carlson; and six great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro; Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at the funeral home; Officiating: Rev. Linda Lawler; Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery; Memorial contributions are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
